An Oasis in Memorial Park

Food at Park by Sidewalk Citizen is inspired by the bustling street foods of Israel, the sun-drenched markets of the Levant region, and the vast outdoors of mountains and prairies around us, combining Mediterranean flavours with local ingredients. Sidewalk is committed to their local growers and to the environment using the best produce the province and surroundings offer, from organic wheat grains and seeds to fish, meats and vegetables.

Our gorgeous solarium harkens back to the origins of Central Memorial Park at the turn of the 20th century. The Park formerly featured garden rooms with semi- enclosed spaces for picnicking and courting. These rooms are the inspiration for the wooden lattice that encompasses the space.

  • Tzavta at Park

In January 2016, Sidewalk Citizen Bakery started a monthly cultural dinner salon. Called Tzavta, the Hebrew word for the act of sitting together, sharing food and conversation among friends, the vision was to create an intellectual welcoming space. As a bakery whose existence and name was inspired by Jane Jacobs’ sidewalk ballet described in The Death and Life of Great American Cities, we are committed to the public sphere and the city’s cultural fabric.
